Meet Numra,
Head Chef and Founder of Empress Market
Numra seeks creative ways to explore her British-Pakistani heritage through her cooking and to share her story as a multicultural Londoner.
Numra began her culinary journey in 2014 when she launched Bun Kabab, a street food stall, serving the famous ‘anday wala’ Karachi style burger.
Numra’s passion for food has led to a kaleidoscope of experience over the years. She has trained at the Leiths School of Food & Wine, she works as a Chef Consultant for some of London’s leading catering companies, and she runs her own business with Empress Market. Numra has shared kitchens with some of the best chefs out there, including Noor Murad of Ottolenghi’s kitchen, Georgina Hayden, Anna Haugh and Clodagh McKenna to name a few.
Storytelling is at the heart of every meal Numra cooks and the driving force behind Empress Market. She believes good hospitality is more than just food, but an expression of who we are and where we wish to go in the world.
